Report: Hyundai Motor may sell Russian plant
SEOUL, Oct 18 (PRIME) -- Hyundai Motor is thinking about selling its plant in Russia, South Korean newspaper Dong-A Ilbo reported on Tuesday citing an industry source.
"Dong-A Ilbo reports that more than 17,000 cars per month produced on the Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg were sold in Russia and Europe in January and February 2022,” it said.
“In March, the activity of the plant was suspended due to difficulties with deliveries of the necessary parts."
The newspaper added that manufacturing at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad was stopped in September.
At the same time, importance of the Russian market may make Hyundai retain the plant in spite of the operation costs, the newspaper reported.
